Here is a selection of cartoons I’ve done recently. Subjects range from funny (chickens) to the decidedly less funny (climate change, Australia’s punitive immigration policy).

Cartoon of chicken worrying aloud in the coop at night: Did she cluck to oloudly at feed time? Where is she in the pecking order?
Cartoon on the evolution of denial: an fish is holding up a newly-evolved limb to another fish and saying 'talk to the hand'

Cartoons created through brilliant long-time employer Sketch Group – during an afternoon session for Connecting Climate Minds Dialogue 2023: Asia Pacific – to highlight key areas of risk and concern and their effect on mental health.

Cartoon to accompany 2024 news story: Despite the facility being vacant in June 2023, the number of refugees being held on Nauru has increased sixfold in six months.

Cartoon to accompany 2023 news story: Michael Pezzullo, boss of Australia’s home affairs department, removed from the top job for breaching government code of conduct at least 14 times, including using his power for personal benefit and to influence political process.

Books and education… Are there too many ‘fart books’ for kids? Yes. Yes there are.

Cartoon, unfunny fart books for kids, four books with titles "colic and colitis" "The irritable bowels ruin snack time" etc.
Cartoon of a mother boasting that her child is reading way above his level. In the foreground, a baby is reading 50 shade of grey - with horror on his little face.
Cartoon of granny sitting at desk brainstorming ideas for childrens books - all about how great grannies are.
Cartoon of an alien learning how to spell on the blackboard. There are a lot of tentacles and symbols.

Not exactly cartoons, this is more character design. These reading animals were created to go on bookmarks for Niddrie Libraries back in 2021. Each character shows a different type of reader (the library’s idea - and very cute). Much of my illustration work for non-publisher clients covers sensitive issues and can’t be shared, so it’s fun to show these.
